On July 24, 2010, 138 people participated in the Reid Family’s 7th Annual Golf for Vasculitis Tourney at the beautiful Quesnel Golf Club in British Columbia. Supported by generous family, friends, and community, the event raised over $16,141.00!
Karen and Ken Reid became aware of Wegener’s Granulomatosis when their daughter, Erin, was diagnosed with this rare form of vasculitis in July 2002 at the age of 20. Erin is a very active participant in the golf tourney; and, over the years, these successful events have raised WG/vasculitis awareness, funds for critical research, and helped to sustain the activities of Vasculitis Foundation Canada.
Carol Moller, VFC’s Treasurer and Membership Coordinator, represented VFC at the golf day. Carol said a very touching moment was shared by attendees at the start of the day when a tribute toast was made to a loyal tourney supporter and WG patient, Creighton Rines, who had recently passed away.
It is wonderful to see what determined people can do!! To turn pain, suffering, and grief into awareness, giving, and hope is truly a special and remarkable thing – Congratulations Reid Family and supporters and thank you!
